On April 25, 2025, Chiawana High School’s Leadership Class and McLoughlin Middle School’s 6th Grade Class took part in an exciting, high-energy educational experience that blended hands-on learning with real-world applications in our Mobile Healthy Lifestyle Classroom!
The day was filled with eye-opening demonstrations, including an interactive motorcycle session, where students explored the surprising similarities between motorcycle mechanics and human anatomy. Using an engaging worksheet, they matched motorcycle parts to corresponding body structures, deepening their understanding in a memorable way.
Outside, law enforcement teams demonstrated their commitment to drug addiction prevention in powerful ways. The Washington State Police Bomb Squad made an unforgettable entrance, parking near our setup, capturing students’ curiosity, and reinforcing their vital role in community safety. Meanwhile, the Pasco City Police Department hosted a drunk driving simulation, utilizing battery-powered four-wheelers and goggles to showcase the dangerous impact of impaired driving. Students saw firsthand how distraction affects reaction time, reinforcing the importance of smart choices.
Inside the Mobile Classroom, students examined two crucial walls: the Drug Wall, where they identified harmful effects of specific substances, and the Healthy Lifestyle Wall, where they explored positive habits that lead to a thriving future.
Feedback from high school student surveys reflected strong engagement and enthusiasm, with many students praising the rotations while one suggested making them “more interesting.” We welcome this insight and are excited to continue refining the experience to createeven more impactful learning opportunities
